An automated system works well by doing the maximum amount of work for you while requiring the minimum amount of forced behavior.

A crude example: If a power saw requires me to stand under the work piece, wear a face shield, install support clamps, and coordinate with two other guys to make the cut... then I'll just use the handsaw instead.
